Where do you deliver?
We currently deliver to most of the Ottawa and Gatineau region. To confirm if you are in our delivery zone, check your postal code here.
What are the subscription options?
We offer flexible subscription options to cater to your needs. You can choose between Basket or Bounty sizes and weekly or bi-weekly deliveries. Add-on items are delivered weekly, bi-weekly or monthly depending on the type. For more details, visit our shop.
Where do you source your products?
We prioritize sourcing from local growers and vendors. Our goal is to provide you with fresh, high-quality ingredients while supporting the local community. Our purchasing policy follows strict guidelines around the production of the food that we source for our boxes.
Non-Transformed Products (fruits, vegetables)
- All non-transformed products shall be sourced from suppliers within 150 kilometers of Parliament Hill
- All cultivated fruits and vegetables shall be certified organic or pre-certified organic.
- All wild harvested products shall be done so in a sustainable manner.
Meat, Cheese and Dairy
- All pigs, chickens, lambs and cattle must be pasture-raised (living outdoors on fresh pasture);
- All cattle must be exclusively grass-fed and grass-finished (no grain);
- All grains fed to other livestock must be certified organic (no GMOs or pesticide residues);
- The use of artificial growth hormones and prophylactic use of antibiotics is prohibited;
- All livestock must be raised humanely and stress-free;
- Preference is given to meats from farms that practice regenerative agriculture and use their pastures to sequester carbon and provide wildlife habitat.
How can I add extras to my delivery?
You can easily add extras like dairy, eggs, bread, meat, or cheese to weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Simply select the items you want when placing your order. For more details, visit our shop.
When will my delivery arrive?
It will take a week or two to optimise our delivery routes, but after that you should generally receive your box on the same day, around the same time, each week. You will receive an email 24 hours in advance confirming a 2-hour time window for your upcoming delivery.
How do I change my delivery address?
Farmhouse Food is a farmer-owned distribution cooperative, connecting households in the National Capital Region with food produced by local, organic and regenerative farms. We believe that farms can accomplish more by working together than they can individually. By pooling our resources, our member farms are able to reach more households, reduce barriers to accessing local food, to build a stronger regional food system than any one farm could create alone.
Everything we offer from crisp greens and veggies, expertly crafted preserves, grass fed beef, and artisanal cheeses, is produced entirely by our member farms. That means we guarantee all items meet a high standard of quality such as organic certification, ethical standards for livestock, and environmentally sustainable practices.
Our boxes are entirely customizable, meaning you get to select the items that are best suited to your eating habits and lifestyle. Each week you can plan your meals by switching out items with ease, or even double up on your favorites!
Because we source everything locally, our refrigerated trucks, and your food, travels less distance and time than conventional produce. We also notify you each step of the way by sending you necessary updates about when to expect your delivery. You can even track your order while it progresses along its delivery route, allowing you to meet your box right at your doorstep.
By simplifying supply chains, and delivering direct, we reduce emissions tied to your groceries. Farmhouse Foods also exclusively partners with farms employing sustainable practices like regenerative agriculture, as well as using their pastures to sequester carbon and provide wildlife habitat.
You get really high quality stuff in the meat box. If you're worried about the number of items you get for the price, the chicken cuts and most of the steaks are about twice the size of what you find in the store.
We tried the monthly cheese add-on last year and the only reason we didn't renew it was because we just couldn't get through them all (it's a lot of cheese - really, really good stuff though).
A big bonus for me was that Aliments deliver, and on a regular schedule. They also have a weekly newsletter that tells you what's in every box, and includes recipes, which are fun to try out.
So yeah, I'd give 6 stars if I could! Definitely recommend them to anyone looking to try out a CSA.
